NASA ANIMATION AUTOMATION SUCCESS STORY ANNOUNCED
Automated Workflows, AppleScript, and QuickTime automate weather animations for NASA

Phoenixville, Pennsylvania - March 18th, 2004 - Automated Workflows, LLC is pleased to announce a new workflow automation success story. This new success story focuses on an animation automation system, which was created by Automated Workflows, LLC for NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission, or TRMM.
The NASA TRMM is a mission designed to help scientists monitor and analyze rainfall in various parts of the world. This data helps scientists and meteorologists to more accurately predict future weather patterns and provides a better understanding of the effects of global warming. Data gathered in space via satellite is then sent to Earth, where it must be validated against ground collected radar images.
"Given that each radar performs one scan every 6-10 minutes, 24 hours per day, the ability to animate these images is extremely important." says Program Manager David B. Wolff (Science Systems and Applications, Inc., Lanham, MD). This is where Automated Workflows was able to help. Using Apple Computer's AppleScript and QuickTime technologies, Automated Workflows developed a solution that will automatically convert each batch of radar images into an animation."
